This video should be called “I am swiperboy”

  11. Cartman

I’m hoping that all characters and events in this video –even those based on real people– are entirely fictional. Swiperboy was impersontated … poorly. This video contains coarse parody and due to its content it should not be viewed by anyone.

    I’m inspired

The striking difference between the first and second acts reflects a growing duality in today’s collegiate athletic culture. The rising question of whether a man is what he does is flipped on it’s head as we have modern day renaissance men involved in all aspects of modern consumerist lifestyles. Also the video accurately portrays Coach Pearls rise from just a normal basketball coach to legendary, almost mythical status amongst students at the university. In the first act we see Bruce Pearl as real as can be, giving a speech to his players. However, in the second act the character of Bruce Pearl is removed from the video, only being alluded to. The rapping basketball player tells romanticized tales of the legendary coach, speaking from the students point of view. The video brings into question the nature of our celebrity worship, separating the real people from the mythical demi-gods that we worship in our tabloids.
